May 2018: Sense When

On this trip to Texas, I was thinking about the passage of time, the cycle of life & how all things have meaning in our brains, albeit distinctly.  Like how a cold or itchy mosquito bites, 100 degree weather or a job problem is experienced so differently to the people suffering from it.  Or how someone looking at an artwork doesn't often see the same thing that the artist saw/felt or even intended.  And how does an 85 year-old alligator feel & experience living?  Or a butterfly that is only alive a few days?  What about a talkative cat that depends so mightily on humans?  Even plants that maybe don't have a brain, but certainly a life-cycle & some ability to live & die.  And then there's the infinite number of inanimate things that convince me they have something like a soul, too.

How wonderful it is to experience all the things...the great, the bad & even the ugly!

Thanks Jess & Patrick for giving me so many moments of reflection, wonderful dishes + not-too-salty micheladas, shopping opportunities, new animal surprises, car rides under the big sky & much to look at, listen to, feel, remember.

We wanted to be sisters when we met in another galaxy long, long ago. Big Al wants to play with both Cous & Wezers! In his nice alligator way.
