See SK's print Dollface (original graffiti paste-up by Gaia) featured under the new section, "I Made This" in Portland's alternative weekly newspaper, Willamette Week (in hard copy only, page 45).
Thank you WW for the publicity & exposure. Let's hope together, we drum up some more business...

Acabo de ver tu obra en la sección "I made this" de Willamette Week. ¡Felicitaciones! Me imagino que es una confirmación más de que tu destino es el arte...
Cool!
" YOU GO GIRL"
so, a photograph of another artist's work; unaltered, cropped and printed is now your art?
the artist who created the work in your photograph "dollface" (you may, or may not know him as gaia) is a friend of mine and though it is public art by nature, don't you think a credit is due as you have done nothing to make the work your own? i think so
other than that, i like your work and your blog
Thanks for the tip. I had no idea whom the original graffiti artist was, but I AM happy my only photo of his work turned out. It was taken in NY, in the SoHo area, in November of 2007.
I'll be sure to make a note to credit his work, by all means. I certainly don't mean to take any undue credit or change the artistic license of the original work. Does Gaia have a site or anything I should put by his name?
I do, however, think that this photo (or any photo for that matter) becomes a distinct piece of expression simply because it is.
Thanks again. Your comment is appreciated.
So very interesting that one's graffiti that is public art is still considered 'private', claimed art. I do agree that credit needs to be given to the artist, if he/she has added a name.
I see Gaia's signature under the face between the chin and ear. This piece also is stylistically consistent with his other work...horizontal lines on the face, lots of detail, realistic features, etc.
Did you make a million dollars from the Weekly pick? I guess you're buying lunch.
these are lovely! wow. i am impressed. is your work still up at the cafe/restaurant? id love to see it! and congrats on the shout out in the paper!
Yes, four images are still up at the non-profit gallery, Splendorporium on SE 21st Ave. between Powell & Holgate. Thanks for the inquiry & compliments!
i love this photograph! i am so lucky to have a copy that hangs in my bedroom. so rad that it made it into the WW. congrats sista!
You and I are the only ones who have "Dollface" in its flesh. And they are both hanging in our bedrooms. Does this mean something?
