April 2012: Hoof, Foot, Paw...Wings

Being laid-off (for good) from my last job, I've had the pleasure of taking the time to....well...be a child & return to nature again.  To explore, frolic, unearth, hunt, discover, relinquish, hibernate, calculate, detail, breathe deep.  As a tribute to my previous employer as well as the State of Oregon, here's my animal way of saying 'thank you' for setting me free.

Nature never complains & always wins. Great shot of the bird.

That bird flew into the house, then smashed into a big window HARD in a panic escape. Dazed & confused, I took him outside with gloved hands & after holding him steady, he flew up to the fence & rested there for a long while. He eventually disappeared.

Sorry to hear about your lay off. Glad to hear that you have used the time away from the grind constructively. I was laid off in 2000. Best thing that ever happened to me! I'm still doing the same thing (which I often question) but at least I'm doing it with sane and decent people. Keep shooting. And printing. And it was good to read the story behind the bird picture because I was wondering how on earth you got so close.

Thanks for the words of wisdom & support, Jeff! Yes, I feel this experience has been a good one so far & am truly thankful I can be creative & not burn through all my savings. This unique time in my life will be used wisely! Cheers.
